Smith Survives Wild Short Track Race

The #16 Hasa Pool Products team managed to elongate their “top-ten finish” record at the All American Speedway in Roseville, CA during the wild night of Saturday short track racing. Smith has the most top-10 finishes, being the only driver to finish in the top 10 in all six series visits to the track since 2008.

However, that battle to an eighth place finish was hard-fought and not attractive. After several NASCAR K&N Pro Series West races that showcased the high caliber of skillful racing talent in the series, yesterday’s race was plagued with a red flag within the first ten laps and numerous caution periods though-out the one hundred and fifty lap feature. The “lappers” appeared to be out of control for most of the race.

Moses Smith qualified his Toyota Camry in the middle of the pack and chased the green flag from thirteenth position on the grid of twenty-three competitors. By lap seven, he drove though the five car pile-up which produced a red flag to clean up the oil spill that circled the entire oval. On lap fifteen, Moses restarted the competition from sixth place.

During the balance of the race, which was accentuated by eight caution periods, for total of sixty-one yellow flag laps, the #16 Hasa Pool Products Toyota thrilled the over five hundred Hasa customers in attendance with intense restarts. The side by side duels brought roaring cheers from the fans as Moses preserved his position in the top-ten throughout the race.

“Tough night...finished 8th...still 4th over all...looking forward to Phoenix in a couple of weeks,” Moses reported on Facebook.
