Venture with US firm, India strategy show Toyota is changing
The much-vaunted systems used by Toyota Motor Corp to churn out millions of vehicles are being put to one side as the automaker tries to crack new markets in the United States and India. In the United States, speed has been at the fore in Toyota's joint development of an electric version of its RAV4 sport-utility vehicle with start-up manufacturer Tesla Motors Inc, while it has tailored a compact car for the Indian market that has been made with even barefoot drivers in mind. On May 20, Toyota and Tesla made the surprising announcement that they were forming a corporate tie-up. But that was not the only startling development. "We made the first prototype car in only three weeks," said Shigeki Terashi, president of Toyota Technical Centre USA. C2577 - High voltage system insulation failure
C2668 - High voltage system leak
C2577 is an error code related to the battery. This was fixed and cleared.
C2688 is an error code related to the hybrid system. We were unable to clear this as it would involve checking the whole hybrid drive train.
The problem with this vehicle is that no matter how good a battery we put in the vehicle, the turtle will appear and the battery soon drains out.
One final solution is to install the power jockey hoping that it will at least allow the vehicle to operate normally. If this does not work then the leak in the hybrid system must be fixed.

GT5 - can you win B-Spec without doing anything if you have a very fast car?
Q: In A-Spec you can blitz the races with a car far better than the opposition so will your driver beat the opposition with ease and without commanding him if he has a car far better than everyone else?

A: My B-Spec drivers are levels 27 and 23, and my overall B-Spec level is 26...I can tell you that in most cases, yes. The ONE race I have had to stay on my driver through is the Cape Cod track in the Historic Car Event. I used a '70 Toyota Race Car with all available upgrades (won from the B-Spec Like The Wind series in which I used the Toyota Minolta Race Car won from the A-Spec Like The Wind series).
I haven't won or tried the NASCAR or Formula GT series, which I expect to be a pain, but the rest have been a breeze with the one exception. My top guy was leveled up as he unlocked the races obviously. My lower guy started out with some level 5 or so races - couldn't start him too high or he would crash nonstop and run out of strength. It only took a few hours to get him to level 19 from scratch though since I had all races up to some low endurance ones unlocked.

Toyota is regularly being criticized by rivals, who claim that the company’s Prius isn’t as green as other vehicles once the car’s manufacturing process is taken into consideration. After installing solar panels on the roof of the plant at Tsutsumi, Toyota has also developed a new species of flowers that can absorb nitrogen oxides and take the heat out of the atmosphere. The flowers are derivatives of the cherry sage plant and the gardenia. The sage derivative’s leaves have unique characteristics that absorb harmful gases, while the gardenia’s leaves create water vapor to reduce the surface temperature of the factory.
Moreover, Toyota is also using energy-efficient lighting, and the lawns of the factory grow specifically developed grass that grows more slowly than conventional grass, which as a result requires mowing just once a year.

Toyota Etios sedan has been launched today (1st December) by the Japanese auto giant Toyota Motors. The long awaited savvy sedan was launched in the presence of Toyota's President Akio Toyoda who especially flew to India for the launch. Toyota will bring Toyota Etios in two versions, the sedan that was launched today and the hatchback christened as Toyota Etios Liva unveiled today but will be launched the after three months in the month of March. The all new Toyota Etios powered with 1496cc comes with four cylinder in-line petrol engine. Toyota Etios sedan is an entry level car from the Japanese automobile maker. The new baby from Toyota's stable is one of the most ambitious car made to capture the growing domestic auto market. The new car has been manufactured with an idea of providing luxury, comfort, advanced technology which is first available in India.
Toyota Etios sedan version has a 1496cc, 4 cylinder in-line petrol engine which churns a power of 88.7 bhp at 5600 rpm and produces maximum torque of 13.46 kgm at 3000 rpm with excellent suspension MacPherson strut, Rear Non-independent. Toyota Industries Corp has announced that the company is developing electric vehicle charging stations that won’t drain the grid, but will rely on the abundant energy of the sun. The solar-powered EV charging stations will first harness solar energy and store it in batteries, which is then used to recharge electric vehicles.
The system will be able to supply 100/200V of electricity and will be connected to mobile networks and LAN to transmit the authentication information of users and other related information to the data center. The charging stations are expected to be launched after 2010
Honda, Toyota Dominate New Consumer Reports Reliability Survey

The consumer watchdog said that Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz vehicles are "among the worst."
Ford came out on top of GM and Chrysler in the new survey.
YONKERS, New York — Honda and Toyota were singled out for making the most reliable vehicles sold in the U.S., according to the 2010 auto reliability survey from Consumer Reports. The consumer watchdog said that Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz vehicles are "among the worst" in terms of reliability.
Ford came out on top of GM and Chrysler in the new survey and now "ranks just below Lexus," noted Consumer Reports. GM was praised for making strides in reliability since shedding "models with subpar reliability when it shut down the Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer brands," the survey noted. But Chrysler was criticized for its "dated models."
"The Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands are saddled with dated models," said Consumer Reports in a statement on Tuesday. "Twelve of the 20 models that CR had sufficient data for rated below average in reliability. None of Chrysler Corporation's models scored above average."
Surprisingly, Toyota's massive recalls did not seem to hurt the Asian automaker much. Consumer Reports said that Toyota models, including those from Scion and Lexus, "remained among the most reliable and earned top scores in five vehicle categories." They include the Toyota Yaris, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Lexus LX, Toyota Sienna and Toyota Tundra V6. The Lexus GS and Lexus IS 250 convertible are below average, while the 2010 Toyota Prius was "hurt by anti-lock-brake problems on early vehicles and scored only average," the survey said.
European reliability has "stalled," said Consumer Reports.
"All Porsche and Volvo models are rated average or better," it said. "But Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are among the worst automakers overall in terms of reliability. BMW had a bad year, with five of its 11 models scoring below average."
Almost all of the Audi models were "below average."
"The A6 with the new supercharged 3.0-liter V6 was tied with the Jaguar XF for the worst new car prediction score," it said. "The Porsche Boxster has the best predicted reliability score in Consumer Reports survey, while the Audi A6 3.0T and Jaguar XF have the worst."

Rumors that Toyota will market its Subaru co-developed rear-wheel-drive coupe as a Scion in America have been swirling around the net ever since the two Japanese automakers made their plans official this spring. But now we've received word that it's true. According to our inside source, Toyota officials in the U.S. confirmed that the affordable RWD coupe will indeed arrive in the States in late-2010 / early-2011 as the new Scion TC. Further details weren't provided but from what we know up until now, both the Toyota / Scion and Subaru variants of the two-seater compact coupe will get an all-new platform with power coming from a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing around 200HP.
Toyota officials also told our source that the iQ minicar will be heading to the States as the latest addition to the Scion line-up. Even though it is apparent that the iQ and the RWD TC will target a different segment of the young or young-at-heart audience, company officials are certain that both vehicles will do their part to spice-up the Scion brand's youthful / hip image.
Shanghai Clone Wars: Great Wall Florid Bonds Scion xA with Toyota Yaris
One of the most eye-popping examples of car-cloning at this year's Shanghai Auto Show is the Florid hatchback from China's Great Wall Motors. What's surprising about the Florid is the fact that it actually copies the design of two vehicles, bonding in a uniquely Chinese way, the body of a Scion xA to the front end of a current generation Toyota Yaris. Inside, the Chinese automaker preferred to keep things simple, maintaining the original Scion xA's dashboard layout.
The driving force behind the Yaris and xA "inspired" subcompact hatch is a Great Wall Motors developed 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 87 horsepower and a maximum torque of 115Nm. For the 2009MY - or so to say, Great Wall Motors extened the Florid's range with the introduction of more powerfull 1.5-liter engine with 105HP.
