I agree with Prof. Evans, New York City is a big retail for the world. I am here since April 2010, and my first 3 weeks in NYC I was a turist. During this period I was walking slowly around the city, asking for direction and spending money. I had a hard time adjusting, people always asked me for directions but I wasn't able to tell them because I didn't know, however, people around me just jump into the conversation to help. After all the cutural shock and the experiences I started to find my way here. A friend of mine came to visit from Tokyo and we are meeting regulary after my classes in the morning, I was showing him the city during the day and going to Broadway shows during the evenings. At the second day of his visit we meet for lunch at Times Square and during the conversation I asked what he did in the morning. He told me that he was bored at his Hotel and went shopping at 5th avenue, in about 2 hours he spent 3.500dollars, I was shocked, but he told me I don't come to New York everyday, is my first time here and probably will take a while to come back again, so lets go to buy more things and try different areas and stores.
